Digitalization in the forest – Lower Saxony State Forests
Digital support in state forests: 600 Getac F110 tablets for the Lower Saxony State Forests
As the largest forest owner in Lower Saxony, the state forestry service manages approximately 335,000 hectares of state-owned forest in a near-natural and sustainable manner. They also manage 77,000 hectares of forest land for municipalities and forestry cooperatives. We are delighted that the Lower Saxony State Forestry Service has opted to deploy 600 Getac F110 tablets of the 7th generation.
The robust Getac devices are used for various purposes, including forest inventories, site surveys, and habitat mapping. Foresters, habitat specialists, landscape planners, and forestry workers use them for mobile data collection in the field. A practical example: During timber inventory, the integrated camera counts tree trunks automatically and precisely.
User feedback has been overwhelmingly positive: The devices are fast, reliable, and offer an excellent user experience. The pen signal was particularly praised, as it works flawlessly even in the rain and reliably detects only the pen – even with drops on the display.
The tablets are ideally suited to the requirements of the state forestry service: Windows 11-compatible, usable offline, and suitable for both mobile use in the forest and at a desk. The collected data flows directly into the company's geographic information system, which covers over 300 thematic levels and is used centrally for sustainable forest management.
The Getac F110 is a fully rugged Windows tablet with a bright 11.6-inch display (up to 1,200 nits) that remains easily readable even in direct sunlight. Thanks to dual SIM with 4G/5G Sub-6, users stay connected even in remote areas.
