Efficient and secure digital processes in the operation and maintenance of the water network by Getac and Mettenmeier
Challenge
In the operation and maintenance of the water infrastructure in Leipzig and the surrounding communities, field staff rely on reliable mobile devices for use in harsh environments. Deployments take place in all weather conditions – indoors in booster stations as well as outdoors for maintenance of the sewer system.
Solution
By introducing offline-capable software combined with robust hardware solutions from Getac, Leipziger Wasserwerke was able to optimize its processes: data digitally recorded by field teams using mobile devices during the day is brought back to the branch office by employees after work and placed in the docking stations. Both the devices and the corresponding docking stations come from Getac Platinum Partner Mettenmeier. Overnight, data exchange takes place via a geographic information system (GIS); the GIS is updated and the mobile devices are provided with the latest information.
Advantages
Due to its outstanding robust properties, the fully rugged V110 notebook is ideally suited for field deployments, as it combines the functionality of a laptop with the mobility of a tablet. For the efficient management of daily tasks, Leipziger Wasserwerke benefits from reliable, robust hardware solutions with high battery performance, flexible operating concepts, and displays that are always easy to read.
V110
The V110 is a compact and lightweight laptop with an 11.6" display that can quickly transform from a notebook into a tablet. Despite the powerful Intel® Core™ processor, flash memory, and a responsive graphics card, the V110 weighs only 2.1 kg and is exceptionally thin for a fully rugged laptop at 3.9 cm. Thanks to Getac's proprietary QuadraClear® technology, the display offers incredible clarity – both indoors and outdoors in direct sunlight.
